For many who suffer with neck and back pain, finding relief is a journey with many twists and turns.
In an effort to assist my local pain patients, I’ve surveyed several local, relevant businesses in Raleigh, NC area.
Here are my top five local Raleigh businesses to help manage back and neck pain:
1028 Oberlin Rd #244, Raleigh, NC
Hot yoga, how often referred to as Bikram yoga, is yoga practice in a heated room typically around 100° F. In theory, warm heat in the room allows for greater flexibility when performing stretches because your muscles are warmed up. Yoga can help decrease back and neck pain by aiding in increased flexibility, increased strength, weight loss, mind relaxation, core strengthening and strengthening of spinal stabilizer muscles. The focus on flexibility as well as spine and core strengthening is a great way to provide active self care for yourself to manage spine pain.
Indigo Hot Yoga offers are variety of classes to choose from including gentle hot yoga a hot vinyasa flow, yoga for runners, yoga with weights, private sessions and workshops. The instructors are all very knowledgeable and helpful for beginners. Make sure to get physically cleared with your doctor before starting hot yoga. I recommend starting with the gentle class. Make sure to bring lots of water and a towel…you’re going to sweat a lot
18 Seaboard Ave #120, Raleigh, NC
Their mission is “to get Raleigh fit through teaching how to live a healthy active lifestyle.” They offer group fit classes, a fit mom club and daily nutritional smoothies and teas to help members stay fit, active and healthy. When you’re part of our group class or club you have a sense of accountability and you’re more likely to stick with the program. Taking off the extra pounds can dramatically reduce back pain. Not to mention all the other health benefits like lowering your blood pressure and decreasing your risk for type II diabetes.
Their smoothie and tea bar offers a wide variety of concoctions including the Dutch chocolate mudslide, cookies and cream and key lime pie smoothie. Take a look at their Facebook and Twitter feeds they are loaded with happy customers.
4209 Lassiter Mill Rd Ste 108, Raleigh, NC
Relax The Back carries a wide variety of products to help with back pain including pillows, mattresses, office supplies, fitness and therapy units, back braces, lumbar support cushions, massagers, and chairs. I regularly recommend standup desks now to many of my patients. Sitting at work for 8 to 10 hours a day carries many health determinants. Sitting at work all day causes pre-existing back pain to worsen and those with no history of back or neck pain to develop back or neck pain.
Take a look at their zero gravity recliner chairs. The chairs remove the extra weight on the lumbar discs when sitting and can provide a great deal relief for lower back pain sufferers.
North Market Square, 1617 N Market Dr, Raleigh, NC
The Good Feet Store offers a wide variety of custom foot orthotics. Some lower back pain dysfunctions are caused by dysfunctions in the feet. The feet are the foundation in the body and when out of balance can lead to dysfunctions and pain in the spine. Dysfunctions in the feet can cause not only foot pain but knee, hip and back pain as well.
Fleet Feet’s philosophy is called the FITLOSOPHY, and their commitment to the concept of a proper fit in all aspects of our lives. In other words, their focus is on running shoes fitting properly. Fleet Feet Sports is very involved in the local community and well respected for running gear excellence. Their team will not only properly fit you for your shoes but do a customized gait analysis before your purchase.
They also have run clubs, sponsor marathons, provide injury prevention classes and many other lifestyle and educational events and classes. They even offer what they called a happy F I T guarantee where any item purchased can be exchanged or returned within 60 days. I can’t recommend this store enough, especially if you’re a runner looking for the perfect shoe. They work with many of the Triangles healthcare professionals including local Podiatrists, Physical Therapists, Orthopedists and Chiropractors in Raleigh NC.
These are just a few of the great local spots around the Raleigh, NC area that I would suggest for my patients suffering from neck and back pain. If you are suffering and would like to make an appointment to visit our Raleigh location for chiropractic services, get in touch here.
