Can Chronic Back Pain Be Fixed With Chiropractic Care? Great Question. Here’s a story to begin.
Recently, a young man presented to my chiropractic clinic in Raleigh with chronic daily back pain for the past 8 years.
Along with chronic back pain, he also reported legs pain comming from his lower back or sciatica. He injured himself 8 years ago while dunking a basketball. He felt immediete pain in his lower back and said, ” I knew I did something wrong.” He says he felt like an “old man with needles in his low back”.
Chiropractic x-rays in Raleigh NC were obtained which revealed a likely old and healed end plate fracture to the lumbar vertebrae. He also had decreased disc space causing disc degeneration in the lower lumbar spine.
Injuries to the spine can trigger chronic back pain, decreased circulation in the lower back in the injured muscles, vertebrea and discs in the spine. He also appeared to injure nerves in his lower back an had frequent sciatica.
He underwent 3 treatments at our chiropractic clinic and experienced a total resolution of the chronic pain he had been experriencing for the past 8 years. The tretments included chiropractic adjustments to the spine, manual therapy, electrical stimulation, flexion distraction therapy, and therapeutic exercises for the back.
He is currently released from care and is contnuing his home exercises and stretching.
